Unless otherwise indicated,  all meetings are held at Centennial Hall, 29 Tulip Avenue, at the intersection of Tulip & Carnation Avenues.  Click here for map and directions.



     The Floral Park Historical Society Centennial Year Programs from January to June of 2008 are listed below.  Our regular monthly meetings are held at Centennial Hall located at Tulip and Carnation Avenues unless specified otherwise.  Please note that programs may be subject to change.

PROGRAMS & EVENTS: 

 Sunday, January 6th at 2PM           Mr. Jeffrey Clark will give a presentation on the story of the Masons of Floral Park since 1925.  This will include many old pictures of the former Masonic Temple.

Sunday,  February 3 at 2PM

           Fire Chief Kevin Kelleher has arranged for the Fire Department to describe to the Society their dedicated service to the Village of Floral Park since 1893.

 Sunday, March 2 at 2PM

          Mrs. John Lewis Childs established The Floral Park Woman's Club in 1898.  President Edna Krug has planned a very interesting presentation outlining their more than 100 years of history.

Sunday, April 6 at 2PM

          Centennial Parade Chairperson Bill Bedell and Centennial Fair Chairperson Sandy Munz will discuss their plans for the May 10th Centennial celebrations in the Village.  In addition, Board Member Jeanne Petta will speak on the history of Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson, which the Society plans to visit in June.

Monday, May 5 at 7:30PM

          Our Annual Meeting will be held for the election of new Officers and Directors.  The Village Museum in Centennial Hall will be open for members and guests and light refreshments will be served.

Sunday, June 1 at 2PM

          The Society plans a tour of Clark Botanic Garden in Albertson, Long Island.  The gardens were established in 1969 and are located on a 12 acre site which was the former estate of the late Grenville Clark, who was a prominent attorney and colleague of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  Members will meet at 1:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Centennial Hall for carpooling arrangements and directions.  A $5.00 voluntary contribution for Clark Botanic Garden is requested.  Our tour group is limited to 20 people.  Please telephone Peter Fleig at (516) 437-5084 for reservations.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETINGS

The Board of Directors of the Floral Park Historical Society usually meet at 7:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month in the Daisy Room at The Recreation Center.  Meetings are not open to the public.

The remaining dates for the 2007-08 year are:  February 25, March 24, April 28, May 27 and June 23.
