Dear Members and Friends,

In September, the Floral Park Historical Society will begin program meetings again. The Sunday, September 18 meeting will begin at 2 p.m. at the Floral Park Recreation/Pool Building. Former Mayor Dom Longobardi, Mayor Kevin Fitzgerald, Deputy Mayor Lynn Pombonyo, Village Trustees and Village Administrator Gerry Bambrick have been invited to tell us about “The Pandemic Years; The Village Today”.

Please see the August-September edition of the Docent’s Digest by selecting CURRENT NEWSLETTER in Menu Selection.

If you have not paid your annual dues, let me take this opportunity to remind you.  I have attached a membership form.  Many people do not know that the FPHS maintains a modest museum  at 103 South Tyson Ave. and a very extraordinary archives, at least that’s what I believe.  In September, visitors from Florida and Pennsylvania will be taking a “Docent’s Tour” with me.  Tours are available for families, students, teachers, scouts and residents -just call (516-775-6849) and I will arrange a tour at a time convenient for you or a group.

I want to again thank residents and former residents for there donations of memorabilia, photos and documents of historical interest.  Our collections are growing as we acquire historical materials and preserve them by placing them in special acid-free boxes. Membership/donations help us to conserve and preserve items pertaining to all aspects of local history. Donations also help us to bring the public programs and to create collection exhibits related to local history.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to be involved in FPHS activities - we can use volunteers.

Sincerely,

Ann V. Corbett, FPHS President
