FLORAL PARK HISTORICAL SOCIETY
presents
"The True Story of the Culper Spy Ring"
The True Story of The Culper Spy Ring will be presented by former Newsday reporter Bill Bleyer, author of George Washington’s Long Island Spy Ring: The history of the operation of the Long Island-based Culper Spy Ring during the American Revolution.
This presentation is of particular interest to the Floral Park community. The First Lady of Floral Park “Carrie” Caroline Goldsmith Childs, wife of John Lewis Childs the founder and first President of Floral Park, became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1914. Benjamin and Caleb Brewsters were half brothers and served in the American Revolution. Caleb Brewster was a member of General Washington’s spy ring. Carrie was immensely proud of her heritage. Her daughter Norma Dee also became a member of the DAR.
